Empire takes a closer look at the film ‘Obsession’, as Empire writer Martin Scott, interviews the young stars of today’s horror films that have outburst across many screens in our towns.

‘Obsession’ is a new and thrilling horror that doesn’t follow the typical conventions of horror films, but has a mind gripping twist that allows the audience to reflect upon the truth behind this film.

Martin talks to the star of ‘Obsession’ Meena Waheed who plays Jennifer, the protagonist who is caught in a tangle that she can’t escape.

EMPIRE: Before we begin Meena, I just wanted to say It’s a pleasure having you here as you have certainly outwit the reviews for this film since you played such a major role.

WAHEED: The pleasure is all mine, Martin, it has been such a great opportunity being part of a strong, solid and supporting group that has created such a powerful film that reflects upon reality.

EMPIRE: Can you explain to Empire how it felt being in a film where murder and blood are customary, and how it was being the youngest on the set.

WAHEED: (laughs) Well I guess you could say I was treated very special. It was so exciting being there and working with such wonderful and inspiring directors. Although the constant filming was very tiring but I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

EMPIRE: How do you think ‘Obsession’ compares to other horror/thriller films?

WAHEED: Wow, well I guess if we are comparing I would say ‘Obsession’ is on a fine line with the film ‘Captivity’ as they both send subliminal messages across and try to reach the audience, but with ‘Obsession’ we reach the audience on another level, as the film cleverly dictates reality.

EMPIRE: Absolutely, ‘Obsession’ has shown differences in the way people watch films and because of this it has had a very good review, what did you make of the reviews?

WAHEED: The reviews were excellent and the directors were very pleased because they also had very good comments from other directors such as Steven Spielberg.

EMPIRE: When they chose you to play Jennifer, how did you feel? because there were other excellent actresses that were also considered.

WAHEED: I was very surprised because other girls had more experience and were very talented, so I was very shocked that the directors chose me, but I was very happy and pleased because the outcome was great.

EMPIRE: Most definitely, and this has been a pleasure as Obsession has shown to be a new era of horror films, and you most certainly captured a new aspect of horror films. It was great talking to you, thank you.

WAHEED: Thank you Martin for having me and hopefully I’ll be talking to Empire in the near future.
