Short Outline of our old Project

Within this project, we have carried out research on what our film should be about as this included exploring different elements of other films and understanding their narrative structure. We have looked at different genres before deciding which type of genre our film should be before coming to the final decision that it should be horror, as it has different aspects that can be developed and create a powerful narrative. Our film is about a man's struggle through childhood and how his life became a nightmare within his own home. It sends a message to the audience about reality and connects with them through a story. We created a short trailer to show the narrative and help the audience understand what the story is about through a number of pictures. It was also inspired by true events that took place in 1994, however we have developed the idea to the audience's needs.

Below is our research that we have done before creating our narrative and synopsis...

Research on Jeffrey Dahmer

Below we have shown a biography on Jeffrey Dahmer's life, as this is part of our pitch, because our film is inspired by his life. There are three videos that talk about his life and the events that took place within his home.

Biography

As a child, Dahmer was always a loner. At home he started to kill his pets and other small animals. At the age of 18, his parents split up and both left the marital home, unwittingly leaving Dahmer alone to fend for himself. This is when the murder of Hicks occurred. His father returned 6 weeks after the murder and Dahmer went to Ohio State University. However, he left after a term as he had become an alcoholic.

Instead, he enlisted into the army and trained as a medical specialist. He stayed there for 18 months, until his alcoholism got the better of him again. On his return home, he was sent to live with his grandmother to get a job and sort out his alcohol problems. In 1982 he lost his job and got arrested for flashing. He started frequenting gay bars, picking up men and experimented on them with drugs and sleeping pills. In 1986, he was charged with disorderly conduct after having been seen masturbating and exposing himself, and was sentenced to probation for a year and counselling.

In 1988, he moved out of his grandmother's house. Soon after, he was arrested for the second-degree sexual assault of a 13 year old boy. It was recommended that Dahmer receive 6 years imprisonment for this offence - however he received 1 year in prison under a work-release programme and 5 years of probation.

Trial

Jeffrey Dahmer - Milwaukee Cannibal

On November 28, 1994 Dahmer and another inmate named Jesse Anderson were beaten to death by fellow inmate Christopher Scarver with a bar from a weight machine while on work detail in the prison gym. Dahmer died from severe head trauma in the ambulance while en route to the hospital.
